Hugo Gruen Denmark

Hugo Gruen Copenhagen 1918-1937 Hugo Gruen & Company 1937-1985 - Markings for both are similar tho font type appears to different: H.Gr

The pictured set is currently on ebay BIN for a cool $999. Its a relist by the seller - I know cuz I have been watching it for a while now. I just wanted to see if it would really sell at that price - seems high for this particular designer.

I got my first Hugo bracelet at the flea market for $15 and that was killing me - cuz its the flea market.
Anyhow, later I picked up the necklace as a sleeper from on online seller...yay.
My set has white moonstones. Then I came across the same design in the brooch with green chalcedony. Very nice - well made - check out the clasp - its sturdy and easy to get on and off. That is true of most Scandanavian pieces - their clasps are distinct and well crafted mechanisms that you can be pretty sure wont fall off your neck or wrist.

Grete Prytz Kittlesen Design for J. Tostrup Necklace

Wow! This just closed on ebay for over $2,700 - I dont know why but I sure do want to know why....
Here is a portion of the description:
Glass panels measure 1" (not including bale) and just over 1/2" width. I think there is a glass panel missing from the back of the necklace near the clasp. Necklace measures 16" flat length. Width, including a dangle, measures 1 1/8". Earrings measure 1 1/2" length and just over 1/2" width at mid-point of glass panel. Necklace is marked STERLING TOSTRUP. Earrings are marked 830.

Grete Prytz Kittlesen Design for J. Tostrup

This bracelet is actually gold vermeil with white enamelling.
I got most of the black grunge off so it actually looks cool.

Here is description from Andrea Fatell on same piece:

Wonderful sterling reptilian like sterling bracelet designed by Grete Prytz for Jacob Tostrup, Norway. The back round of the bracelet is textured and oxidized. Some of the oxidation extends onto the punched out pieces that look like reptile scales. These pieces were made with and without enamel. I offered one with enamel a few weeks ago and then was shocked to locate another without enamel. This bracelet came with the marching pin which I am listing separately. A wonderful example of Norwegian mid-century jewelry, this bracelet measures 6" around with a 1" opening so for a 7" wrist. It is in fine original condition and signed for J. tostrup as shown in the photo. Please see the matching pin for a spectacular matching set.
